The Spin Project — Fair Work First

The Spin project: Fair Work First policy

The Spin project is committed to advancing the Scottish Government Fair Work First Policy and the criteria as set out within the Fair Work First guidance document. We confirm that we pay our staff the Real living Wage and will do so if we employ others in the future. We make every effort to ensure that our suppliers/contractors are offered the Real Living Wage when procuring goods or services. We also confirm that we offer our staff and our volunteers an Effective Workers Voice channel within the workplace.

We employ 2 staff and have 38 volunteers.

Both staff members have equal voices within the organisation as directors.

Specifically:

1) We have appropriate channels for effective voice from the workforce and/or

volunteers, who are offered the chance to give feedback and voice concerns through anonymous quarterly surveys, or express concerns to a line manager in the shorter term. The Spin Project will provide effective one to one line management for any employee or volunteer ensuring regular open and two-way dialogue.

2) We expand in volunteer and workforce investment by offering subsidised training opportunities, with no additional commitment to the project as a result of those opportunities.

3) We are committed to no inappropriate use of zero hours contracts. Employed staff are given full or part-time contracts, and subcontracted staff are made aware as early as possible what level of work they can expect. We do not use zero hour contracts.

4) We take action to tackle the gender pay gap and create a more diverse and

inclusive workplace. When hiring staff, we will review any pay gap and take active steps to eliminate it.

5) We are fully committed to paying the Real Living Wage to our employees

and ensuring our contractors also do the same. All employees are paid, as a minimum, the Real Living Wage.
